Domaine Drouhin is a pinot noir legend in Oregon, of course (I remember selling the earliest vintages in the 90s at the Crow's Nest in Anchorage, AK). The relatively new bottling is called Roserock Zephirine. It's got the critics all jacked up, too. We got a tiny allocation of the 98-point 2015 and I would not wait one second to grab it --- will sell out in a flash!
Veronique Drouhin's notes: "The 2015 Zéphirine convinces you immediately with its dark ruby color and abundant aromatics. Violets, fresh strawberries, cacao, cannelle and a touch of vanilla essence emerge from of the glass. Zéphirine has impressive complexity, defined structure and super length. I trust this wine can be enjoyed for at least 7-10 years, if not more."
2015 DOMAINE DROUHIN ROSEROCK ZEPHIRINE PINOT NOIR --- $54.95!! JS98!
JS98: "Incredible aromas of chamomile, hibiscus, fruit tea, lavender, dried strawberries, cherries, lemons and light white chocolate. Medium-bodied but with crazily formed tannins that are like velvety strings and are surrounded by vivacious acidity. A phenomenal, awe-inspiring finish. An indisputably unique wine. Drink from 2020."
