BPW is Blicker, Pierce, and Wagner - three longtime friends and wine professionals based in the Napa Valley.


We offer virtually every level of wine, from nearly every region and price range, all presented here with real-time online inventory. We ship worldwide and sell to private consumers, restaurants and the wine trade alike, and our pricing is among the most competitive anywhere.

We built our business initially buying and selling private cellars and collections, and we still do. With excellent provenance and pricing as our guide, we are proud to say that over the years we have bought and sold some of the country’s finest collections. We always have interesting, well-stored and highly collectible older vintages to choose from, and we guarantee excellent provenance.

As we grew, we began offering more current release wines, and we began buying wine directly in Europe and around the globe to enhance our pricing and selections. Today we are one of the world’s largest and most respected sources for fine and rare wines, and we are always striving to improve. Our state-of-the-art, temperature-controlled, secure 30,000 square foot warehouse is located in the city of Napa.

Stefan Blicker

I’ve been fascinated with wine since my early restaurant working days growing up in Sacramento. Oddly enough, it crystallized into a career while living in Anchorage, Alaska, where I was a sommelier, wine retailer and wrote about wine for the local paper. I moved back to California and Napa Valley in 1997 and worked for a winery until I helped start what was my first online wine company. In 2006, BPW was born. I play to my strengths, and that is drinking wine, appreciating it from many different angles, and writing about it, daily. A lot of the reviews and thoughts you will find on this site come from me – I’m opinionated, but I’m upbeat and positive. You won’t find me recommending things I don’t like, but you will find a lot I do! My favorite wines in the world are older California, from any decade, and I’ll do a handstand for great Chateauneuf or Burgundy. Or Barolo…or Bordeaux…well, you get the idea.

Brent Pierce

After attending the University of Kansas, I cut my teeth in the wine business in 1994 while working with Stefan at the Marx Bros. Café in Anchorage, Alaska. My newfound passion led me to create the Wine Market Journal in 1997, and I remained its editor until 2006. While there have been other meaningful stops along the way (with Stefan at NextWine in 2000, then started Benchmark Wine Group from 2002-2006), having my own wine company was always a dream. Here we are 7 years later, and what started out as Stefan, Cory and I working on folding tables is now a team of 17 people. I look forward to finding more great wines for you in the next 7 years. Cory Wagner

Born and raised in the Napa Valley, wine has always been in my blood. Raised by two medical professionals who do not drink, naturally, I gravitated towards a career in wine. I attended Cal Poly and majored in Agriculture Business with a minor in Viticulture and Enology. After graduating, I spent a harvest working in the laboratory of Clos du Val but quickly realized that working for one winery was not for me. My next move was to the warehouse of a wine retailer where I had the opportunity to discover wines from regions all over the world and sample varietals I could hardly pronounce. After a few years, at the ripe old age of 25, I joined Stefan and Brent as a partner at BPW.

Outside of work I spend my time taking advantage of the beautiful area of the world I call home. I spend as much of my free time as possible rock climbing, biking and mountaineering. My next goal is to climb half dome (the steep way) and eventually summit all of California’s 14ers (with my father). When I am not working or exploring mountains, I play with my 2-year-old son Dean, cook with my beautiful wife, milk goats, make cheese and clean chicken coops, and of course drink wine.

I am a born and raised Napa Valley native and have lived here all of my life with the exception of a quick visit to Oklahoma that lasted 12 years. When I left from Napa in 1993 the wine industry was BIG and when I returned in 2005 the industry was OFF THE CHARTS HUGE. My wine knowledge was relatively limited when I started working for BPW in 2007, and 6 years later, I am still finding that the more I learn the less I know. Wine is art in a bottle: sometimes a masterpiece and sometimes just another replica.

I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and am a true Francophile! I stumbled into wine during the end of my undergraduate degree when I decided to fill an open class with wine technology, having always had an interest I never explored. That class was the final piece of the what-the-heck-am-I-doing-with-this-degree puzzle. I was in love. I graduated, moved to Napa and got a position with a major distributor as a merchandiser. In 2007 while taking a sensory eval course on the side, I met Max the BPW shipping whiz, and the rest is history. Working on imports and appraisals in an e-commerce environment keeps my toes wet in my original field of international business and marketing while I still get to enjoy all of the glory and splendor that is wine. Win-win! You’ll be hard pressed to find a person in a 50 mile radius that is not aware of my love of bubbles and Riesling. And oh, did I mention bubbles?

I was born and raised in the Napa Valley so I grew up running around vineyards and tasting grapes right off the vines. It only makes sense that as an adult I would be tempted to poke around at the wine industry. I went to college at SJSU where I got a degree in international business and took a course in wine appreciation, that’s where I learned my basics. After graduation, I came back to Napa and began the dreaded post-grad job hunt. I was lucky enough to have found BPW; my knowledge about wine has grown tremendously in the time that I have been here. I definitely have a new found appreciation for wine and have learned that there is more out there than just our great California Cabs. I have recently fallen in love with White Burgundy and Spanish wines, especially Tempranillo, both wines I knew very little about but now they take over my wine rack!

Born and raised in the Napa Valley, I was always surrounded by vineyards and wine. Virtually everyone I know is or has been involved in the winery/winemaking process. It was when I moved to San Diego that I realized how little I appreciated it. Sure, the weather was perfect and the beaches were nice, but nothing compares to driving to work surrounded by rows of vineyards and hot air balloons. Before returning, I took a year abroad in Italy, spent time in Tuscany, and explored the wines they had to offer. I fell in love. It was my time abroad that showed me how much more there was to learn about wine, and now working at BPW, I try to take advantage of every tasting opportunity to develop my personal taste and knowledge of the wine world. I just can’t get enough of it!

I was born and raised in St. Helena and as a young girl enjoyed picking prunes and walnuts on my grandfather’s ranch. My great-grandfather became a gardener at Beringer soon after his arrival from Italy, and my mother was secretary to Robert Mondavi in his early years at Charles Krug. I have seen a lot of changes to Napa Valley during my lifetime, but it still remains a wonderful place to live and raise my sons. I worked ten years in hospitality at Merryvale Vineyards, and have now broadened my wine horizon at BPW. I love all things Italian, having studied and worked there for two years. I still have cousins in Piemonte whom I visit often, so naturally I love nothing more than a great glass of Barolo or Ruche’! Salute!

Born and raised in California, I’ve been around great wine all my life. It wasn’t until I started working with this crazy bunch of people that I started to appreciate it on a grander scale.
